FOR PARENTS

Counselling for Parents of Neurodivergent Children

Raising a child who thinks, learns, and experiences the world differently can be joyful and exhausting at once, and it is easy to lose yourself along the way. This is counselling for you, the parent. A space to feel lighter and more like yourself again, to be supported instead of judged, and, from that steadier place, to be there for your child in the way you want to be.

You are carrying more than people see

You may already know how it feels to be judged for something that is not your fault. To hear that your child is just naughty, or that stricter parenting would sort it out. To brace yourself before family gatherings, to field advice you never asked for, or to carry a quiet guilt that says you should have known sooner. Many parents feel they have to hold all of this alone. You do not.

How counselling helps

This is not about fixing your child, and it is not a parenting class. It is space for you to feel better. Together we make room for how you honestly feel, without judgement, and we ease the guilt, worry, and exhaustion that so many parents carry alone. As you begin to feel steadier and more yourself, calmer and kinder ways of responding to your child tend to follow on their own.

What we might work on together

  • Feeling less alone and less overwhelmed
  • Easing the guilt and self-blame that was never yours to carry
  • Rest, and recovering from burnout
  • Reconnecting with yourself beyond caregiving
  • Understanding and responding to your child on the hard days
  • Handling judgement from family, community, or school
